Congratulations, graduates of the inaugural session of Prep@Collegiate!
On Friday, August 4th, 2017, students, staff, and families came together one last time. The team met with families, to benefit from their perspectives on how we can do this even more effectively next year.
Then, the boys arrived--and they were met with a standing ovation. Three students offered opening remarks on behalf of their respective crews; we enjoyed a slideshow of the summer's highlights; and each boy was presented with a certificate commemorating his completion of the program, as well as a key.
The key (a replica of a 19th-century skeleton key) is symbolic: of how they--and only they--possess the instrument that can unlock the opportunities with which their lives present them. As people who care deeply for these boys, there's a great deal we can do to support them... at the end of the day, though, each of these boys will have to decide for himself whether to turn the key.
Thank you all for an extraordinary adventure together. We'll have a few more posts reviewing aspects of this summer's session in the weeks ahead--keep an eye out for one one our Student-Led Conferences, as well as some of our lessons learned--and then we get to work on the 2018 session.
We look forward to seeing you there.
